How many driving lessons do I need?

Novice 4 minute read 4 years ago

Our driving instructors will often be asked the question 'how many driving lessons do I need?' from pupils during their first few driving lessons. This question can be difficult to answer accurately as every learner progresses differently and learns at different speeds. After your first couple of lessons or 2-hour assessment lesson, your driving instructor will give you an estimation of how many driving lessons you're likely to need. It's helpful to have this estimation so that you have a measurable goal to work towards, and it also means you can organise your finances for your driving lessons.

How many driving lessons will I need to pass?

The number of driving lessons needed to pass varies depending on the pupil. While some pupils will be test ready after as little as 10 hours, others may require significantly more. One thing you can be sure of is when learning to drive with DRIVE 321, we will never string you along or long the process out unnecessarily. We know that some driving schools will tell pupils they need more lessons, even if they are at a test ready standard so that they can get more money from the pupil.

Our driving instructors will always tell you how many lessons they think you need, and they will keep you updated throughout the process. We want you to pass as much as you do, and we want to help that happen as quickly as possible. You can see that we are consistently achieving this from our average pass time of just 26 hours.

The reason our pupils pass so fast is not that we rush the process or cut corners. It's because our teaching methods have been expertly developed to help you learn at your best, and we have exceptionally high teaching standards. Our driving instructors at DRIVE 321 are all carefully chosen by us and have to meet our high standard code of conduct. Our code of conduct ensures that our instructors are teaching to the standard we expect and that our pupils are receiving the highest level of teaching they available.

How much does it cost to learn to drive?

The cost of learning to drive depends on several factors such as the area you're learning to drive in, what type of lessons you're having, and how many hours you need. Driving is an essential skill for life, so the process of learning mustn't be rushed or cut short. Our driving lessons start from just £20, and we work hard to ensure our lessons are affordable, while still being able to provide top quality driving instructors.

We also have block booking deals which are the most cost-effective way to pay for your driving lessons. Rather than paying week by week, you can pay for a course of 10, 20 or 30 hours upfront. We offer an excellent discount on our block bookings, and it is also a great way of managing your time and money.

2-hour assessment lesson

Our 2-hour assessment lesson is designed for those pupils who want to get to know their driving instructor and are keen to get driving during the first lesson. During the 2-hour assessment lesson, your instructor will gather information about your current driving ability and assess what level you're at. At the end of the assessment, your instructor will provide some feedback and will be able to give you an idea of how many hours you need.

We have many different driving lesson options available, our driving lessons are explained here. We highly recommend that pupils begin their lessons with a 2-hour assessment lesson, whether they're a beginner or have driven before. From this lesson, your instructor will be able to put together a plan of action for your learning and tailor lessons to your needs.

Intensive driving courses

We also offer intensive driving courses in many areas across the UK. With one of our specialist intensive courses, you could be ready to take your driving test in just 1-4 weeks, depending on your ability and availability. Our driving instructors are specially trained in delivering intensive courses and will help you pass in as little time as possible.

Our intensive driving courses are all taught by approved DRIVE 321 instructors; we will never sub your course out to instructors we don't know. The reason our intensive courses stand out is that, unlike many other driving schools offering intensive courses, we tailor our courses to each pupil, giving you the best possible chance of passing quickly.

Top Tips

Whilst the number of driving lessons you need will vary between pupils, your instructor will create a detailed plan to help you learn as quickly and safely as possible. If you want an accurate estimation, choosing to take an assessment lesson will allow you to have a rough estimation of when you will be ready, but it also gives you a goal to work towards.
